Freddie Macready Mercer

       Freddie is a composer, songwriter and music producer for film, tv and games, sync, artist projects and original self-releases and recently helped conduct and produce recording sessions for the Mission Impossible: final reckoning film at Pinewood Studios and contributed vocals to the score for The Witcher series composed by Joe Trapanese (Tron, Oblivion) and Max Grey. He has scored the films ‘Defenders of the Tyrhannean Sea' by Jack Shanks which has won 5 independent film awards, ‘Homecoming’, a gripping psychological drama that delves into the struggles of reintegration, redemption and the pull of the past directed by award winning filmmaker Will Pope and a music video collaboration ‘Forever Requieme’ with Shivam Pota (director of the Limits of Light and Sound) where he wrote an original track that the film was built upon. Also, he scored Pota’s 'Winter' film that premiered at the BFI as part of the UK Asian Film Festival’s Short Film Showcase.

A little more about…

       Born in Frome in Somerset, Freddie attended Downside Abbey and Westminster Cathedral as a choral scholar. He travelled around the world in a chamber choir performing the works of Faure, Byrd and Palestrina and has sung in some of the most prestigious buildings, from St Paul’s cathedral, Frauenkirche church in Munich to St Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican, Rome. After studying Opera at Morley and the National Opera Studio under Mary Hill (Royal College of Music & Royal Academy of Music) Freddie took all his training and inspirations and threw himself into writing and performing his own music by attending the Academy of Contemporary Music. Since then, he's worked as studio assistant and co-writer to Kipper (Sting, Stevie Wonder, Mary J Blige and James Morrison) and has written and produced his own original compositions at the world famous AIR Studios where countless albums and film scores are made. He is also a professional vocalist, topliner for commercials, artist, producer and sync projects as well as a vocal coach and arranger, whilst continuing a life long passion for teaching, helping his students with composition and music production as well as singing and piano from his studio in Surrey.
